Schoharie Chapter, NSDAR Schoharie, New York 12157
Welcome to the official page of the Schoharie Chapter, NSDAR, and Lasell Hall. The century-long care and upkeep of Lasell Hall by the Schoharie Chapter, NSDAR, has been an extraordinary commitment, and the chapter membership was unsure of its ability to respond to such a devastating disaster in the wake of tropical storm Irene (August 2011). However, with the help and support of many, the chapter membership is dedicated to it missions to keep Lasell Hall open and functioning within the Schoharie Village. With the awarding of the Special Projects Grant by the National Society, work to maintain the authenticity and history of the original structure of Lasell Hall has occurred.
The Schoharie Chapter, NSDAR, would like to extend its sincerest gratitude and thanks to the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR or DAR) Special Projects Grant Committee for the opportunity to restore Lasell Hall’s first floor windows that were damaged by flooding from Irene. At that time, Lasell Hall was inundated with approximately five feet of water on the first floor. The flood waters were particularly detrimental to the first floor windows. During the cleanup, it was necessary to remove fifteen of the first floor windows, nine of which date back to 1795 and retained approximately 70% of the building’s original 18th Century glass panes.
